New Center Aims to Redefine Rehab

Local officials and health care professionals cut the ribbon Tuesday on a center that’s expected to redefine rehabilitation services in the Birmingham area.

The Aspire Physical Recovery Center at Hoover combines rehabilitation and health care services with resort style amenities.

“Everything about this building is to make it feel so comfortable that you feel like you’re at Ross Bridge or a resort like setting,” Aspire Executive Director Nick Beckham said. “Health care quality and hospitality at Aspire go hand in hand. We’re able to provide the comfort measures that make you feel the very best so you get the most out of your rehab.”

The center is designed to provide short-term, in-house rehabilitation services. A 3,500 square foot therapy gym is filled with specialized equipment such as a Zero Gravity System and an Omni Virtual Reality System.

“By having the new, high-tech equipment, our scope of services is greatly increased,” Beckham added. “We can handle non-weight baring patients with our lift system. With our virtual reality system, guests can see the issues we’re working on.”

The facility has 118 total beds with 62 private rooms spread over 82,000 square feet. All rooms feature a private bathroom and shower, refrigerators and wireless Internet access.

“Even though you’re in a large building…you’re in a unit that’s dedicated to you and 20 other people that has its own nursing staff, dining room and living room so it feels very intimate,” Beckham said.

Aspire also offers luxury amenities such as high-end dining experiences, a putting green, full spa services, a concierge and more. The center encompasses multiple living rooms, courtyards and a coffee bistro.

“We hope people that come here achieve their highest functioning ability in a way that was so nice and so pleasant that they would love to come back and do it again,” Beckham said.
